Even with regular maintenance and careful driving, every driver gets a flat tire. Whether you’re fixing it yourself or calling for assistance, spare tires aren’t meant to last for long, so you’ll need to come in for Buick service at Peruzzi Buick GMC as soon as you can.

Getting Ready

Find a place you can pull off the road, making sure you have plenty of space between your vehicle and passing cars. At this point, you’ll need to decide if you want to change the tire yourself. If you’re not comfortable with the process, you may want to call on roadside service instead, especially if you already have an active roadside assistance plan.

Changing a Tire

If you are changing the tire yourself, place the jack under the exposed metal section of your car’s frame. Partially loosen the lug nuts, then jack up the car so the tire is off the ground. Next, remove the lug nuts entirely, followed by the tire, then replace it with your spare and screw the nuts back on by hand for now. Partially lower the vehicle so the new wheel is resting on the ground, then finish tightening the nuts with your lug wrench.

Recovering from a Flat

Whether you replace the flat yourself or have someone do it for you, your spare isn’t designed to be on your car for long. Visit the Tire Center at our dealership to find out if your tire can be repaired or if you need to order a new one. While you’re here, talk to our team about tire maintenance that can keep your wheels healthier.
