Staying on top of car maintenance for your Buick Encore is key to a long ownership experience. While your SUV was built with high quality parts, there are certain parts that will require replacements over time. Your battery is a vital component that will eventually need to be maintained and replaced.
Batteries 101
Your SUV’s battery is responsible for providing the components of your Buick Encore with a jolt of electricity, turning chemical into electrical energy. It is also relied on to maintain the energy current and keep your engine running. Needless to say, your car won’t run without your battery. On average, your battery should provide power to all necessary components for three to five years.
If you find that your car is struggling to start, your headlights are dim, backfire occurs, or there’s a clicking sound when you turn the key, it may be time for a new battery. Head to our GMC truck dealership to have our certified technicians get you back on the road safely.
Causes of Wear and Service Tips
The longevity of your battery depends on a few different factors. One of the main reasons why your battery may be failing is due to leaving your headlights or dome light on overnight. If the connections to your battery are loose or corroded, that may also drain your battery. If you live in a region with extreme weather conditions or fluctuating temperatures, your battery will die faster, especially if it’s an older device.
If possible, limit your rides that are quick, as they prevent your car’s battery from fully charging. Forgetting to shut off lights can be detrimental, so be sure to check them before you leave your vehicle. When idling, unplug your electronics to save yourself from unnecessary wear and tear. Finally, test your battery often so you can stay up-to-date on its status.
