Why is My Check Engine Light On?

It could be that the last time you filled up your Buick Encore, you didn’t tighten your gas cap all the way and it’s a little loose. You could also be due for an oil change and your engine is telling you that your current oil is getting old.
 
However, there could be a bigger problem at play, which is why you never want to ignore your check engine light.

The first thing you want to do if you see your check engine light is to check your gas cap. If it’s loose, tighten it up. If that was the culprit, your check engine light should go off fairly quickly. 
 
If that doesn’t do the trick, think about the last time your Buick SUV had an oil change or check the little sticker on the inside of your windshield. If you are overdue, make an appointment to get your oil changed.
