How EV Service Differs 

The biggest difference between electric vehicles and ICE vehicles is their powertrain. Since combustion engines are made up of hundreds of different moving parts, there are many different issues that may arise. Electric motors and battery packs are much simpler in comparison, meaning you’ll spend less time at our service center and less money overall on GMC repairs. 

One of the best bonuses of owning an electric vehicle is that you’ll never have to worry about an oil change again. This is one of the most common service tasks we complete, and not needing them can save you some time and money. When it comes to completing other service tasks, the time intervals between appointments are much longer with an EV than with combustion vehicles. 

Common EV Service Tasks 

Even with an EV, there are several important service tasks to keep up with. You’ll still need to get your brake pads replaced, but the regenerative braking system inside new EVs like the GMC HUMMER EV does put less stress on these pads, meaning less frequent service. You’ll also need to maintain the tires as you would with a gas-powered vehicle. 

One major EV service task is battery maintenance. All EVs are federally required to come with at least an eight-year/100,000-mile limited battery warranty.
