What to Do if You Get in an Accident
There’s a lot of things to like about living in the Philadelphia area, but traffic certainly isn’t one of them. And with so many cars on the road at any given time, the chance of an accident is always fairly high.
This is why you need to know what to do if you ever get into this situation, and our GMC service has some tips and advice.
Move Your Car If You Can
For a minor crash or a little fender-bender, you should be able to move your GMC Sierra 1500
off the roadway. Get it on the shoulder, in a parking lot, or otherwise some place that won’t be a hazard to other vehicles. If the accident is severe, however, you may not be able to do anything.
Call for Help
The next thing to do is see if anybody is injured. Even small accidents can result in someone getting hurt, and if this is the case, don’t hesitate to call for an ambulance. If there is any property damage – aside from the vehicles involved – the police will need to be called. For insurance purposes, you may want to have a police officer there anyway.
Talk to Any Other Drivers Involved
At some point you will probably have to get in touch with your insurance company, which is why you will need to exchange insurance information with any other drivers. It’s important not to admit any fault, and you don’t want to get into a heated argument. This is another reason why it could be a good idea to have the police on hand.
Take Pictures and Maybe a Video
It’s a good idea to document everything that happened. You don’t, however, want to rely on your memory. Use your phone to take pictures and/or a video of the scene and damage to your GMC Terrain that you can go back and consult.
Seek a Quality Repair
The final thing you’ll need to do is get your car fixed. Even if the damage to your GMC Acadia seems cosmetic, you just never know what could have gotten hurt under the hood. This is why it is always smart to have a car examined after any sort of crash.
