Power and Performance

The GMC Sierra 1500 comes with a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. Several others are available:

  • Turbodiesel 3.0-liter inline-six: 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque
  • 3-liter V8: 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque
  • 2-liter V8: 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque

The base engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the other engines get a 10-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is standard, with four-wheel drive as an option. For a massive vehicle, this GMC pickup handles very well. It also offers a smooth ride, especially with upper trims that come with adaptive dampers.

Off-Road Ability

Brand-new for 2023 is the AT4X AEV Edition, which will make avid off-roaders giddy. It comes with steel front and rear bumpers with recovery points, steel skid plates, and 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires.

Towing and Hauling

When properly equipped, the GMC Sierra 1500 can tow up to 13,200 pounds. It can also haul up to 2,240 pounds. Three bed lengths are available: 8.1 feet, 6.6 feet, and 5.8 feet. Integrated LED lighting, a 120-volt household-style power outlet, and an in-bed sound system are all available. This new GMC can also come with the MultiPro tailgate, which can turn into a workstation, as well as steps.

Interior

With the Regular cab, you can fit up to three people, and both the Double and Crew cab models can fit six. Cloth upholstery comes standard, and options includes leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats. As for tech, Android Auto™, Apple CarPlay®, and an infotainment system with a seven-inch touchscreen are all standard. Several other features can be added, such as a Wi-Fi hot spot, wireless smartphone connectivity, and satellite radio.
